It's amazing what a simple act of kindness and generosity can do. Last week I randomly posted a status update on Facebook about funding my cross stitch addiction (I was filling the time by surfing craft websites). Today I got up and found an unexpected package waiting for me.

gerrybm's mother, who I have always gotten on with very well, sent me a bunch of her old cross stitch and canvas supplies. She said her eye sight isn't up to it anymore and she would like me to have it.

Gobsmacked isn't even the right term. There was a ton of thread, DMC like I prefer, bits of different sized cloth, a few pattern books, a few hoops, and a couple of partially finished canvas works, one of which I will probably be able to puzzle out.

When I posted that last week, the last thing I expected was something like that. I had been joking! But it was brilliant and I am very, very grateful.

the thank you card will be in the mail tomorrow. I wish I knew something else to do to convey how much a gesture like that means to me!
