So, if I wanted to create a Luna Lovegood costume for next year, what would you all suggest I wear?

Especially interested in clothes-type stuff. Generic Ravenclaw uniform? Or something more eclectic? What would be recognizable as Luna?

I have lovely radish earrings, courtesy of the fabulous Cilla last year. I have an idea for a necklace. But what else?

maybe a Ravenclaw uniform but with Luna's accents?

definitely make an issue of The Quibbler to carry around with you. maybe a net to wear on your belt, to catch some strange creature if you see one?

Luna is about props. Movie or Book costume? Book gives you more freedom of expression. Movie costume shows your skills at duplication (not easy as it sounds or cheap).

Every decent Luna I've seen has mastered the "lion hat" and ravenclaw uniform. She has butter beer cork necklace and radish earrings. Luna is blond. Luna is really more acting, but she's easy to cosplay. Lunas carry around copies of the quibbler.

Book Luna...there you go! What a wide open field with book 7. =D

If you can organize it, do the "DA" with some friends, with coins. XD

Props props props....

I'd probably go with book because of the freedom of expression. My budget is limited--and I've been trying to price some of the costume parts (skirt, robes, etc) and it definitely isn't cheap at ALL.

I've got the blond, and tasteful radish earrings. Don't know if I have the attitude, but I have plenty of time to work on it *practices while sleep deprived, wheeee*

I guess I'm just sort of unfocused and seeking a direction to follow. Something recognizable but unique enough to be Luna. Bah. I shouldn't be trying this when I'm so tired.

Skirt can be had a thrift, ditto for white blouse. Socks are socks/dark hose and can be incorporated into normal clothing, possibly borrowed.

Cloak/Robe...can you make it? Check ebay. Check HP_costuming.

Remeber- anyone can be a Death Eater. XD

I'll have to start trawling places now. I'm horrid to fit. Though a friend just suggested that I inquire around the couple of private/religious schools in the area.

I might be able to get my mum to make it. I have minimal experience with sewing machines so it might not be a great first thing in years thing to make.

Hehehe. Deatheater!Luna, hm?

Try the kids' section, too. I know you're small. Seriously, though. I'll be you can pick up some of the stuff online, even used, for very little.

And cork necklaces are easy!

Thirding the Quibbler suggestion.

Maybe a Ravenclaw uniform + a huge bag in super-busy patterns & pastel colors. Def. some zany sneakers with wacky shoe laces.

And chopsticks/long pencils/wand in your hair =D
