RP pimpage
Okay, so I took the dive and signed up for another RP. The concept is clever and I know some of the people, and well, I know it takes up time but it makes me happy. Regular writing isn't going well lately, and at least RP keeps me writing in some form or fashion. I'll stop someday, but I'm not ready yet.

But anyway, I'm Asher Bradley (Ravenclaw, Auror) and Bill Weasley (and his daughter Victoire, aged 3 1/2) on this new RP that will start in January. I'd love it if you would take a look and consider taking a character (especially a Weasley, or someone Asher might know!). Feel free to ask questions, too.

The Premise
It's the year 2004, six years after the war and life has moved on in peace since the defeat of Voldemort in the battle of Hogwarts. In this time of quiet, a sudden string of disappearances shakes the wizarding world. No one knows where the disappeared people are, what's happened to them, if they're alive or dead or even if they left by their own choice or not. Aurors stand without answers; newspapers and radio speculate wildly and the Ministry is in an internal uproar of power struggle and arguments. In these times, Aurors and hit-wizards are given more authority as more and more rules and laws are set aside as the Ministry tries to persuade people they're safe from harm.

What is going on? What is happening to those who disappear? Why are some groups targeted more by the Ministry's new actions than others? Does the Ministry know something they're not letting on? And does perhaps the Minister himself have something to do with what is going on?

Let your character help to sort out what is real from what is false...
The Game
Enigma is a role-playing game based on the Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling. The setting takes place four years after Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows ends and the game is canon compliant to all seven books (minus the epilogue).

We are looking for creative and active players who want to build a story not only for their characters but for the game as a whole as well. Speculation, attempts of finding those missing and solving the mystery are all welcomed with open arms. All levels of experience are welcome, as long as you're willing to commit to the game and the events that unfold in it.

Game will start in January 2009.
The Characters
APPLICATIONS ARE OPEN - All characters not dead at the end of DH are be up for casting.

We're especially looking for Hermione, Ron, Fleur, Other Weasleys, Malfoys, Rita Skeeter and Rodolphus Lestrange at the moment, but most characters are open for casting still.

You must be 18 years of age or older to apply.

Tempting. Very, very tempting. I've never been involved in a RPG before, but this looks to have a really intriguing story line.

Any words of advice for a comeplete newbie considering applying?

Well, first I'll give you the warnings--it can be a time sponge, and it can distract you from your other writing. Which is why I know I should give it up.

Um. Just be thorough. Since you'll be new, I'm offering my babies up for beginning plots to help you out (I always prefer knowing someone, preferably someone I trust, before joining a game).

I dunno if the character sheets are visible until you've joined--if they're not, I can send you mine to see what a character sheet/application should look like.

The most important thing, I think, is to have a strong sense of your character and his/her past, and perhaps a few potential plot ideas.

And if you want to bounce ideas off me, I'm more than happy to help.

I think it's great that you're doing it! After all, you're right that some writing is what's important! I think I don't have the time for RPG's; from what I've heard, they can be quite demanding. Now, if I got rid of the Muggle, I might have the time....

I know I shouldn't, but yeah. It's the only thing in my life going somewhat right at the moment, and I think I need that.

I wish you did *said selfishly* though it is a time sponge a lot of times and it is rather addictive. It can distract from other writing as well.

But someday if you ever get the time, I'd love to introduce you to an RP. While in some ways it can be bad for writing, in other ways I think it really helps flesh out characters in a person's head and can help a lot too.
