Nathan took a moment from socializing and merely lurked on the fringe of the party, prowling around the outer edge to the bar to fetch himself and Mandy a drink. She was the bright star of this little gala, the opening of her (and Chuck’s, he glowered) gallery.
His eyes remained on her as he went around the room, admiring the sweet lines of her body and the evident joy she was taking from her aunt’s inspired idea.
And then his eyes fell on him again. That other man. Pureblooded arrogant arse that always seemed to be touching her. His Mandy.
Warrington was looking at Mandy just like Nathan was. Almost obsessively, pensively, jealously. Drinking in his fill and more. Rage and possessiveness filled Nathan, and he repressed it ruthlessly.
Their addiction was the same, that beautiful woman who smiled and thanked him for the drnk when he finally slipped it into her hand, fingers lingering against hers for a moment too long. Take that, you bastard.
The difference between them, Nathan thought smugly, was that he would be getting a hit of that ‘drug’ when the evening was over, and Warrington would be left jonesing all on his own, never to get a true taste.
