Audible
So, flist, have you ever used Audible.com?

If so, what did you think of it? Was it worth the money?

I am considering it as a gift for my brother for Xmas, so I'd like some feedback. It's buy one of those or buy two or three audio books (probably the Hunger Games trilogy, thanks to whoever made that suggestion). What do you think?

I use audible.co.uk (but I don't imagine the difference is all that huge) and yes, I definitely think it's worth it. I have a subscription where I get one free credit per month which I can use to buy any audiobook I wish. That one credit per months suits my use of audiobooks nicely so I haven't looked too much into it, but there are a couple of other subscription offers as well with two or three monthly credits. The audiobooks are good to listen to while travelling or walking or doing boring house things such as for example washing up.

I don't have a subscription, but I've acquired a couple of audiobooks through them and they've worked out well, for whatever that's worth.

Pretty sure that Stephen King recced that site in Entertainment Weekly saying he uses it all the time and that it is wonderful. I've never used it myself because I'm not wild about audio books.

My friend Dawn uses it, and she likes it. I was reading up on it recently since I'm thinking about maybe getting it, and I saw that you can burn the books to discs, which is really nice. :)

Just for the comparison, I think those three books are around $30 each for audio, whereas with the audible, it would be about $15 each. So even if he only kept it for a while, it would end up being less. And if the reader is the same, I feel like it's a pretty good deal.

She also said that there's an app, so you can download the books straight to your iphone/ipod touch.

I've had it for over a year and I love it. I try to choose really long books because I listen four days a week when I commute.
