Flist Challenge: Rarepair Drabble, Draco/Luna
So, this is something I've been thinking of for awhile now, and I think I'd like to make it roughly a weekly thing if I get any form of participation out of you all. And I would love it if you would participate.

Everyone knows that I am a rarepair junky. I challenge you, my flist, to write me drabbles between 100 and 500 words of the rarepair I choose each week. I will give you the pairing, which can be the prompt in and of itself, if you wish, a quote, a couple of words, and a song, which you can take separately or together.

If you write a story/drabble/whatever, at least link me to it where you post it! Think outside the box! It can be romantic, gen, whatever you wish.

While I know there are many fests going on right now, if your muse is anything like mine, you need occasional distractions. Please let this be it!

THIS WEEK'S CHALLENGE:

~ Draco / Luna
~ "Each night the moon kisses secretly the lover who counts the stars." Rumi
~ Whisper, darkness
~ Somewhere Out There by Linda Rondstadt

Inspired? Hope so! Not? That's okay, but maybe next time you'll be tempted to step outside of your normal box.

Have a suggestion for a future rarepair? Lemme know!

I'm not a writer...but a question anyway. When you say 'pair' in the prompt thingie, do they actually have to be a couple in the story? Or does the story just need to be about them as the main characters?

Also, here's my rarepair: I'd like to see a little something about Dumbledore and the Hufflepuff leader...Sprout was her name? Yes. I think it would be adorable if they were to have a tryst. ^^ I bet she'd make him giggle like a schoolboy, and he make her blush. :D

Anyway, carry on! Just thought I'd stick my very not in the know nose in. lol

While conventionally it should mean as a couple (or in process of getting to be a couple, etc), I really don't care so long as the two are interacting and are the main characters. Preference to them becoming/being a couple, but right now I really just want to challenge my friends to write outside of their norm.

Mmm. I shall put it on the list!

Feel free to stick your nose in anytime ;)

and are the main characters.

Hmm. Blew it. Sorry!

No, you didn't blow it! Yours was perfectly within bounds.

actually... I maybe am inspired. ;) Two of my favorite characters, a reason to write something OTHER than my bandombigbang. I know what I'm doing on my lunch break today! ;)

YAY! Glad to inspire, look forward to seeing what you come up with.

I rather thought that random drabbles would be a nice break from people's fest obligations.

And of COURSE you pick the rarepair I TOLD you I have the hardest time seeing! LOL <3

I shall see if the muse will accommodate you *grin*

In theory, I like the idea. In practice, I'm not sure I want the whiny git inside my head...

Oh, come on, it's just for a few minutes ;)

If not this time, I'll have something different next week... :)

I haven't dismissed the idea, I just haven't had the metaphorical thunderbolt, either.

Snape is pacing around my frontal lobe being sulky and I think Draco's scared of him.

Well, I'd probably be a bit scared of him too.

*starts randomly tossing thunderbolts around* Oh, shiny!

A Movie Tale
"Gitfellow, this is so stupid. If Father knew...," Draco fumed. His sunglasses hid the anger in his eyes.

"You're the one who asked what the Hufflepuffs were up to," Richard Goodfellow retorted, his eyes also covered by sunglasses.

The two young wizards were arguing in a poorer part of London, where there were many vacant shoppes. Crabbe and Goyle were not with him and he felt unprotected. That Richard was older and more street wise was not a comfort at the moment.
"It's right over here; don't you want to at least look at the place?" Richard pointed to a vacant store front. The windows had been soaped up and adverts taped to the windows. As they watched, a couple of their school mates from Hogwarts were walking towards the store, looking about casually. One walked through the front door, passing through without opening, the other soon followed.

"See? Easy," Richard said, leading the way.

Together they plunged through the door into a small dark room.

Someone who was wearing a Hufflepuff coat of arms on her tee-shirt stood by the door. Richard gave her some money and got two pieces of paper in return.

"Here's your ticket," Richard said, handing it to him.
They went through another doorway into a large room filled with chairs, facing a big blank wall. Richard pointed out two seats in the center of the backrow.

"What if someone sees me?" Draco whined.

"Would you rather sit in the front?"

They had to tilt their heads back to watch the movie trailers. Draco kept asking questions.

"Keep your voice down or we'll get kicked out," Richard ordered.

They continued their conversation, whispering in the darkness. The movie started.

"'An American Tail?' American? And 'tale' is msspelled. This is stupid, " Draco said, putting back on his dark glasses.

Just then someone sat next to Draco, cutting off his exit.

"Each night the moon kisses secretly the lover who counts the stars." a girl's voice said.

"Oh, bother," Richard said under his breath, then louder, "Hello, Luna."

"Hello, Richard," she replied. "Who is your friend?"

"A guest," he said. "He hasn't been here before." He noticed Draco's glasses. "And the light hurts his eyes."

Luna started to talk, but Richard cut in.

"We're here to watch the movie," he said firmly.

Luna obediently stayed quiet. Draco stared at her profile for a moment longer, and thought about how her eyes bugged out a bit.

He dozed, dreaming that he was character Cat R. Waul. The girl mouse, Tanya, had Luna's features and Luna's voice. Her solo, "Somewhere Out There," came on, and he dreamt that he, the cat, had gotten smaller, and that she had grown taller, and they danced together. He fell solidly asleep, continuing his dream.

He was surprised when the movie ended. She was gone; Richard had waited for the theater to empty before nudging him awake.

My favorite parts of the movie were the various gags at the "sandbox" and Jimmy Stewart.
